HISTORY
The Youngstown Ski club is a non-profit organization that was established in 1958. The main purpose of the Club is to promote the sport of snow skiing along with club sponsored social events for skiers, non-skiers, and snowboarders. By building the spirit of camaraderie as our base, we hope to gain new members and introduce new people to the sport of skiing. From athletic to various social events and sight seeing throughout the year, membership includes all levels of skiing ability, thus providing you with plenty of people to ski and have fun with!
Secondly and equally important, we aim to make skiing not only more enjoyable, but more affordable for our members. As you are well aware, skiing is becoming an increasingly more expensive sport. To defray some of these expenses, the Club sponsors fund-raising events, such as our annual Corn Roast, sporting events, garage sales, Wine and Dinner Dance, and lottery Raffle and Art auction. Event profits are deposited into an account that is used to subsidize our ski trips and certain summer functions. A portion of these profits supports various handicap skier programs. Our Club also has a fun filled informative News Letter that can be sent to your home upon request, or you can obtain it at here on the Newsletter page.
The Youngstown Ski Club had over 200 members in previous years. The economy, personal hardships, relocations, and personal preferences, has recent membership around 75 people. New members join monthly and are always welcomed and encouraged to share their experiences with others. We take pride in the knowledge that one trip will convince you of our can-do, fun-loving philosophy! The club is what you, the member, make it to be. Club meetings, which are open to all members, are held monthly. Your input is strongly recommended and all questions and comments are reviewed. Check the web site for the location and time of this meeting. All members are encouraged to attend the annual business meeting in April, during which officers are elected. The past ski season is evaluated and recommendations for new ski trips and other events are discussed.
We are the areas ONLY subsidy ski & social event club! Funding approximately $45-65 dollars per trip, per member. A GREAT savings to YOU! Weekend ski trips begin with the first weekend in January and continue through mid-March. Also "One-Day" trips are open to non-members and the public.
